MEET BEN CHRISTLY
“Just as important as what we do is how we do it.”
Ben Christly is a father, Navy veteran, flight nurse, small business founder, and community advocate running to represent Washington’s 17th Legislative District in the State House.
Born and raised in a working-class family, Ben learned the value of hard work early. He grew up doing farm labor and holding W-2 jobs by his teenage years. At 17, he joined the United States Navy, where he served honorably.
After his military service, Ben earned his nursing degree and has spent more than twenty years caring for others. Today, he works as a flight nurse, transporting critically ill patients across the globe. His experience in emergency rooms, critical care, and veteran health has shaped his deep commitment to affordable and accessible healthcare for every Washingtonian.
Ben is also a small business founder who understands what it takes to build something from the ground up. He opened and operated a successful neighborhood business, giving him firsthand insight into the challenges entrepreneurs face, from permitting and payroll to economic instability and navigating crises.
A passionate believer in public service, Ben was elected to serve on the Clark County Charter Review Commission. He brings a level-headed, nonpartisan approach to his work, grounded in clear governance, transparency, and listening to the people.
Beyond his professional work, Ben has coached youth football, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and supported fellow veterans navigating the healthcare system. He also dedicates time to coaching endurance athletes, helping everyday individuals set and achieve long-term goals, maintain discipline, and overcome obstacles.
Ben lives in the 17th Legislative District with his partner, Cait, and their blended family. He is a devoted dad to three kids, ages 4, 12, and 26. Like many families here, they balance work, school, rising costs, and questions about what the future will look like for their kids. Around their kitchen table, campaign conversations share space with homework, youth sports, and the daily rush of family life. Ben and Cait are proud to call Southwest Washington home and are working to build the kind of community where all families can plan for their future and thrive.
